I've had some interviews for charity organizations, and in the process i've realised that i'm really interested in social work. Can you give advice on courses?

    • Social work is a very interesting field,it is very fulfilling especially to those who want to help people, its a helping profession. You can enrol for a bachelors in Social work or start with a diploma.Other programs that are closer to Social work are Bsc in Community Development,Bsc in Development studies, just to name a few. Look for universities that offer Social work if you really feel you are the helping type. You wont regret it.Good luck!

      • Many thanks Priscilla for your insight. I'll definitely investigate the different options you mention. Hopefully i'll get there! What's for sure is that i see clearly that social work is my thing, the satisfaction of knowing that i've been able to help a fellow human being doesn't compare to anything else i've ever tried. Again many thanks for your reply.

    • To get an entry level position on most cases you need a bachelor’s degree on Social Work or related degrees. You can in addition pursue a majors in psychology or sociology among others, which will give you a head start. If you’re looking to get a position in the area of health or mental health you’ll probably need to further your studies at postgraduate level (for example, a master’s degree specialising in psychology or the likes). To practise you must register with the ZA interim council for social work. Your bth degree is probably a great complement, but I doubt it if it will be enough.
