Can anybody help with the average pay i should expect working as a fitter? I'm being told 100k/year, and it seems very low to me...thanks

    • it depends on your experience and your skill. a starter position can pay what you say, with time, if you work well the pay can improve to an average of 230k/year.

Hello everyone! I actually take my code 10 and I need a job urgently but I'm young and I have no working experience. So I'm really interested in looking for job applications that don't require previous experience. Which sectors do you recommend to try to search a job offer in?

    • Hello Ntozoko, I don't really know any specific company looking for your worker profile. But I take a look on Internet and I found that being unexperienced is not a problem really because, the more experience you get, more salary will you percive. And also I found that the best city to work in South Africa as a fitter is Rustenburg. You can check this and more information at the following link: http://www.payscale.com/research/ZA/Job=Structural_Metal_Fabricator_%2F_Fitter/Salary

And also I suggest to you searching here in JobisJob -as I've done to get a job as a teacher- in case you find some interesting offers! https://www.jobisjob.co.za/search?directUserSearch=true&whatInSearchBox=fitter&whereInSearchBox=

      Good luck,

I would like to become a mechanical fitter but i have no training. Is there a way to become one if I have no time to study?

    • Ideally you’ve got better chances if you study at a specialised training institution. Although there’s also the possibility to start as an apprentice.
